Description of how and when your institution started acquiring archival, library or artifact collections relating to parapsychology:
I’ve been collecting books on strange phenomena, especially about UFOs and parapsychology, all my life. I had dreamed of starting my own paranormal research organization and in 2003 we officially incorporated with the State of Texas. It was founded with about a thousand books from my personal collection and that of a local Austin “zine” publisher, Wes Nation of Crash Collusion magazine. We quickly attracted more donations from other Anomalist / Fortean seekers. From those first 1,000 books and hundreds of periodicals in 2003, we’ve grown to house over 5,000 books and thousands of periodicals.
Your main collections in the field, including the names of prominent creators:
Besides the foundational collections of our founder, SMiles Lewis, and local zine (Crash Collusion) publisher Wes Nations and editor “John Carter”, we’ve had the personal collections of the following individuals and organizations donated to us:
* James Bunnell – Marfa Lights researcher.
* “John Carter” – author of Sex and Rockets: The Occult World of Jack Parsons and other works.
* Rabia Clark – local author, researcher, past-life regression therapist.
* Robert J. Durant – author and researcher into UFOs, Cryptozoology and psychic Remote Viewing. Former board member of Ivan Sanderson’s SITU organization.
* Josi Galante – local artist and alien abductee / contactee / experiencer.
* Jane Genthe – local artist and alien abductee / contactee / experiencer / psychic medium.
* Robert C. Girard – author, researcher, rare book collector and proprietor of the Arcturus Books Service.
* Dennis Stacy – author, publisher (Anomalist Books), and past editor of the Mufon UFO Journal from 1985 to 1997.
